Dr. Darryl Hiyama is a Professor of Clinical Surgery in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and surgeon who practices in Westwood, at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. He is board-certified in Surgery and Medical Informatics. Dr. Hiyama has 31 years of practice experience at UCLA in the surgical treatment of diseases of the esophagus, stomach, hepatobiliary system, small bowel, colon and rectum and spleen.

Dr. Hiyama received his medical degree from the University of Hawaii. During his medical education, he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and received the award for an outstanding student in surgery. He completed his residency in surgery at the University of Cincinnati before coming to UCLA in 1990. He received his bachelor's degree from Seattle University in Washington state.

When not working, Dr. Hiyama enjoys travel, cooking, gardening and woodworking.

Dr. Hiyama is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Pacific Coast Surgical Association, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the Society of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons as well as a number of other groups.
